Modern diagnostic imaging techniques, such as Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanning, has led to the earlier diagnosis and treatment of a variety of diseases and injuries. However, there is concern that the extensive use of such technology may not be cost-effective. Rather than address the economics of health care, we will examine how the total charges for diagnostic exams are structured.
