A few years ago my husband started to experience hearing loss. He was only in his mid-forties but his job involved working with loud machinery. Although these days hearing protectors were worn due to health and safety regulations this was not the case when he first started out twenty years ago.
His hearing had already been damaged and he was starting to find it difficult to hear people on the phone or when the background noise was loud.
